Pregnancy & Postpartum
Nourishment For Every
Stage of Motherhood
Pregnancy and postpartum are some of the most exciting phases of life. Most exciting, and most exhausting! So much is happening physically, hormonally, emotionally, and mentally and what you eat can really impact how you feel. Nutrient-dense foods are essential for supporting the whole perinatal process, from growing a baby, to healing after birth and promoting milk production if you are breastfeeding. And partners need nourishment too, which is why most of our menu items are at least 2 servings so everyone in the family can feel well cared for. The foods to focus on during postpartum include:
- Soft, easy-to-digest foods like soups and stews
- Protein and iron to rebuild your strength (blood, tissue) from grass-fed and pasture-raised meat (organ meats are especially good), beans (ideally soaked and cooked with kombu to increase digestibility!), and dark leafy greens
- Collagen from bone broths and braised meats to rebuild skin elasticity and joint health
- Warming spices like turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon
- Ingredients that promote milk production like oats, Brewers yeast, flaxseed, almonds, and apricots

Get Your Village To Help
Nourish You!
We all know what they say, it takes a village to raise a child. But our villages are often filled with other moms who are busy too or loved ones who live across the country! Kitchen Doula is a great way to make sure you get the wholesome food you need to support you postpartum while empowering your community to help take care of you. Here are a few ways to encourage your people to give you the gift of Kitchen Doula:Â
- Add Kitchen Doula gift cards or packages to your baby registry. Babylist makes this super easy!
- Offer Kitchen Doula as an option on your meal train. Because we don’t deliver every day, let people know that it’s ok if your Kitchen Doula food doesn’t show up on the exact day they sign up for.
- Let your company know they can become a corporate partner of Kitchen Doula by emailing partners@kitchendoula.com.
